The main reason I find people sticking with cheaper servers is because in an alliance of 1000, you probably only need a teamspeak server for about 150. But with EVE Voice, you pay on a per-account basis, rather than based on how many people you need to support at once.
So for example, let's say your Teamspeak server costs 200 dollars per year, a reasonable amount. EVE Voice for the alliance would cost 10,000 dollars a year, 50 times more.

Yes, there are good reasons to buy EVE-Voice, but there are many reasons not to, such as the fact that with the money a large alliance would have to spend to get it, one could buy a nice car

The money goes to the 3rd party corporation who runs Vivox, not CCP.
